Description
To say that the Vatican Museum is crowded is to not really describe the situation; as the density really falls into the phrase — it depends. The decision was made to go on a guided tour of the museum long before we arrived. In the previous year we had begun in the evening and it was busy, but often not overwhelming. Our 2016 morning stroll soon picked up steam so by the second time through the Sistine Chapel we were sheep heading to the dip. All this sounds negative but no matter when one goes or however many people are packed inside – the Musei Vaticani is worth visiting. One would like to see more, study more, understand more, muse more here and there. In the early evening time is short before they close. In the morning every tourist in Rome is there. So in the evening or in the morning there is just being in the moment, and not failing to stop at the restrooms — oddly built hallway up a staircase — just take in all that you can. Enjoy what catches your eye. The Gallery of Maps is one of my favorite places in the museum.
