Description
I generally found the renaissance chisea to be overwrought so jammed with images, shapes, and intense color as to be unrecognizable other than in the context of a kaleidoscope. I understand their purpose was to glorify and instill awe in the masses. I am sure this worked in the main. I do not wish to be hypercritical as the chisea are gloriously beautiful. It is difficult to comprehend how they have lasted the centuries. I did take my share of photographs in these palaces, but I have offered few of them here as I do not have criteria within which to judge whether I wanted to share them. In my review process I stopped on this one, and then set it aside. By chance it has repeatedly popped up and simply jumped out at me. I think it is the repetitive arches, and the deep foreground shadows that frame the intense light and colors.
