Description
One of the perennial issues of travel is finding a restroom. At Monte Cassino there was a man at the facilities door who required a euro. Gladly! St. Paul Outside the Walls had wonderful new facilities where they should have demanded a euro! The Vatican Museum stood out as the best, but then again there is a serious entry tap (16 euro) just to be allowed into the museum. The fee was worth it by the way for much more than their fabulous restrooms. The National Roman Museum, gets a wonderful ditto on facilities and cost (11 euro). Lunch or dinner always came with restrooms of vastly lower quality, usually in the basement, and often mysteriously; without toilet seats. In between breakfast, lunch or dinner just about anywhere one found what was named a ‘bar’, but was more a ‘convenience store’-‘fast food’-espresso bar. For a euro one could obtain an espresso, and make use of the previously described sans seats. Tre Fontane had a separate building, no cost, facility which came with the bonus of being able to see into the courtyard of a resident. The place was absolutely intentional, orderly, and was outfitted with its own gnome.
