Description
I guess I expected little on top of the Palatine Hill except what we saw hanging from its edges. Well the Romans, etc.had been busy over the centuries making the top of this hill into a fortress jammed with homes, temples, and assorted pleasures. It is a massive place. What stands has been stripped of its marble, and often appears like a red brick forest in vista having suffered a tornado where the trees have lost all their tops. Here there are only standing brick structures. The bricks rise chest high and often much higher, but there are few superstructures or roofs. I also did not figure there would-be a flower garden on the heights. There was.
