An inconvenient set of very heavy rainstorms were working their way up the western side of the Appalachian Mountains, and another fiercer looking beast was churning up the Atlantic out to sea. Southwest decided that staying out the grounds was a good idea. We did that in Indiana, losing a day then traveling on to New York City one day later than planned. I had the opportunity to fool around with purple coneflowers as my subjects.

My subjects are both natural and architectural. I am interested in textures and shapes and how light and shadow play on those objects often creating new ones. I use a Nikon D-800, and an iPhone 10s Max. I make every effort to compose in the camera and thus I crop infrequently. I use Lightroom, Photoshop & NIK to work with highlights & shadows which often brings out the elements in a photograph for which I have primary interest. I have no hesitation using any other tool if the results make the photograph work. My preference is to do nothing to a photograph presenting it as it was taken.
