Description
I wandered around the Trastevere following my GPSs insistent directions. However, even after this short time in Rome I was not taking a bridge over the Tiber observing that Id have to walk up to the next bridge and cross back into the Trastevere! When I finally found Dar Poeta Pizzeria I felt a certain sense of achievement given I had immediately been separated & lost from the folds of the group from minutes after we removed ourselves from the residence and started down the hill toward St. Peters. The bonus was that I was early, and The Hat Inc. had not arrived. To say that Dar Poeta was in a warren would be understatement. It was in an impossible maze of very narrow medieval streets often jammed with motorbikes, capped with occasional piazzas of varying dimensions on one end and tunnels of heavily shadowed light on the other. Street signs were often present high on the sides of buildings, but not always and often there was a great deal of doubt as to their points of reference. Absent my iPhone I wold have never found Dar Poeta. I had time to cautiously reconnoiter the location reaching into the shadows which was a tunnel with the requisite light at the end. The other end I had come from which was a piazza and in-between were a bevy of motorbikes. Dar Poeta sat nearer the lighter end of the street. I waited patiently and like clockwork the place was jammed with hungry people at the stroke of 7:30 PM. We were already seated.
