Description
For centuries the Forum was the center of day-to-day life in Rome: the site of triumphal processions and elections; the venue for public speeches, criminal trials, and gladiatorial matches; and the nucleus of commercial affairs. (Wikipedia, 2018) Wikipedia having had its say I was primarily impressed with two points. 1. The Forum itself in the valley between the Capitoline and Palatine Hills is large enough but not physically all that impossible. However add the various buildings on top of the Palatine Hill and this place is overwhelming in its scope, size & functions. 2. The wildflowers were abundant, vivid, and various. I was amazed that they are there, but also that they survive the onslaught of tourists.
