It is difficult to determine what is Abbey and what is private property walking out of Abbazia di Fossanova. Never-the-less we always walk out the same route to reach a busy two lane highway on the way to Il Giardino for pizza. It is so stereotypically Italian looking, and such a lovely rust colors on the walls of the buildings. Once out of the gate then the walk is along this road for a mile or so. It is double pace we are like cattle being called for the evening milking and feed.
My subjects are both natural and architectural. I am interested in textures and shapes and how light and shadow play on those objects often creating new ones. I use a Nikon D-800, and an iPhone 10s Max. I make every effort to compose in the camera and thus I crop infrequently. I use Lightroom, Photoshop & NIK to work with highlights & shadows which often brings out the elements in a photograph for which I have primary interest. I have no hesitation using any other tool if the results make the photograph work. My preference is to do nothing to a photograph presenting it as it was taken. My web site is named light & shadows because both light and shadows are the visual elements that hold the most fascination for me. If time and space...
