Artist's Description

One of the mysteries of Florida was � what is this bird called? Well it is not Ernestine! It turns out we saw these funny web footed birds perching in trees at Corkscrew Swamp. This particular unhappy anhinga I found in a lagoon perched on a rock. I surprised her as I looked over the side of the bridge on the way to the La Piazza. She was most upset with my invasion of her privacy whilst she dried her wings most probably after her early morning fishing for breakfast.

My subjects are both natural and architectural. I am interested in textures and shapes and how light and shadow play on those objects often creating new ones. I use a Nikon D-800, and an iPhone 10s Max. I make every effort to compose in the camera and thus I crop infrequently. I use Lightroom, Photoshop & NIK to work with highlights & shadows which often brings out the elements in a photograph for which I have primary interest. I have no hesitation using any other tool if the results make the photograph work. My preference is to do nothing to a photograph presenting it as it was taken. My web site is named light & shadows because both light and shadows are the visual elements that hold the most fascination for me. If time and space...
