At first I was completely dependent on the Hat, and then I was forced by circumstance into depending on the iPhone, and finally, I knew the proximate locations of taller structures and could use them for guidance. By the end, I could move around freely although without the iPhone I would have found a taxi! My favorite thing to do was to know a place I wanted to achieve, use the iPhone to select a location, and then proceed to walk to the destination. One then had the opportunity to cross paths with scenes such as this one.

My subjects are both natural and architectural. I am interested in textures and shapes and how light and shadow play on those objects often creating new ones. I use a Nikon D-800, and an iPhone 10s Max. I make every effort to compose in the camera and thus I crop infrequently. I use Lightroom, Photoshop & NIK to work with highlights & shadows which often brings out the elements in a photograph for which I have primary interest. I have no hesitation using any other tool if the results make the photograph work. My preference is to do nothing to a photograph presenting it as it was taken.
