We had places to get to, Latin to read at those places, and a few touristy things to see here and there. We started the day at the Roman Forum, left the Forum for lunch at Made in Sud in a neighborhood, returned to visit the Palatine Hill, read Latin in the shade inside the short walls of an ancient house, and visited with St. Paul & St. Peter at the Mamertine Prison. Demands were made for espresso & gelato before we walked over near the Colosseum to read more Latin in the late afternoon under the looming height of the Colosseum in one direction, and Arch of Constantine in the other. My subjects are both natural and architectural. I am interested in textures and shapes and how light and shadow play on those objects often creating new ones. I use a Nikon D-800, and an iPhone 10s Max. I make every effort to compose in the camera and thus I crop infrequently. I use Lightroom, Photoshop & NIK to work with highlights & shadows which often brings out the elements in a photograph for which I have primary interest. I have no hesitation using any other tool if the results make the photograph work. My preference is to do nothing to a photograph presenting it as it was taken.
